Samsung Unveils their First 2017 Smartphone

After the huge crisis faced by the South Korean Company Samsung last year in 2016( with the explosion of Galaxy Note 7 batteries which led them to withdraw their phone models from the market), the Company returns to release a middle categorized smartphone as an attempt to compete again in 2017.

South Korean Samsung are expected to announce their more advanced, better and high specification phones: Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge, during March and April of 2017.

Samsung rely deeply on their Galaxy S series which were last released during the first quarter of 2016 (Samsung Galaxy S7, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge).

It seems that Samsung are trying to rebuild the trust between them and their customers. They started that once Note 7 batteries started exploding during September 2016. The news reports showed that the financial losses that happened to Samsung were catastrophic and that they will not easily bounce back from it.

Customers have been patiently waiting for the explanation report (for the Note 7 incident) which was supposed to be released during 2016. But Samsung has postponed this announcement to January 2017.

In any case, the South Korean Company Samsung got back in the game at the beginning of 2017. They unveiled their new Galaxy A series, which are released annually with this symbol in addition to putting the production year next to it. This year, they unveiled Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017 model), Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model), and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model).

The most important feature with these releases is that they are water and dust resistant (this feature is now present in almost all smartphones). As for the design, the new phones look similar to Galaxy S7.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017 Model)

When it comes to Samsung Galaxy A3’s (2017 model) dimensions, it has a length of 135.4 millimeters (13.54 centimeters), a width of 66.2 millimeters (6.62 centimeters), and a thickness of 7.9 millimeters (less than 1 centimeter) and weighs 135 grams (4.76 ounces).

It has a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen that supports more than 16 million colors and covers an area of 67.9% of the phone’s front side. The screen has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017 model) operates on an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor with a frequency of 1.6 gigahertz. It is also powered by Android 6.0 operating system (also known as Marshmallow).

It has an internal storage of 16 gigabytes and a 2 gigabyte RAM and supports an additional Micro SD Card (up to 256 gigabytes).

Reaching the camera, Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017 model) has a rear camera with the resolution of 13 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture. The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture. It is powered by a non-removable 2350 mAh battery.

It will be available in the following colors in the market: black, gold, blue, and light orange.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model)   

Moving onto Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model), it has a length of 146.1 millimeters (14.61 centimeters), a width of 71.4 millimeters (7.14 centimeters), and a thickness of 7.9 millimeters (less than 1 centimeter) for its dimensions. It weighs 157 grams (5.56 ounces).

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model) has a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen that supports more than 16 million colors and covers an area of 71.5% of the phone’s front side with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.

It operates on an octa-core Exynos 7880 processor with a frequency of 1.9 gigahertz. It is also powered on Android 6.0 operating system (Marshmallow).

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model) has an internal storage of 32 gigabytes and a 3 gigabyte RAM. It can support an additional 256 gigabytes Micro SD Card.

The rear camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture, the front camera also has a resolution of 16 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture. Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model) has a non-removable 3000 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017 model) will be available in the following colors in the market: black, gold, blue, and light orange as well!

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model)  

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model) has a length of 156.8 millimeters (15.68 centimeters), a width of 77.6 millimeters (7.76 centimeters) and a thickness of 7.9 millimeters (less than 1 centimeter).

It has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen that supports more than 16 million colors covering an area of 73.6% of the phone’s front side and a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model) operates on an octa-core Exynos 7880 processor with a frequency of 1.9 gigahertz. And it is powered by Android 6.0 operating system (also known as Marshmallow) similar to the two other models.

It has an internal storage of 32 gigabytes and a 3 gigabyte RAM. It also supports an additional 256 gigabyte Micro SD Card.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model) has a back camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture. The front camera also has a resolution of 16 megapixels and an f/1.9 lens aperture. The whole phone is powered by a non-removable 3600 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017 model) will also be available in similar colors to the market, which are: black, gold, blue, and light orange.

Summary

Finally, we must point that Samsung are relying on this phone series this year due to its average specifications and affordable prices. And they are placing a lot of hope – especially this year – after what happened with their Note 7 batteries!

What is special about these phones is that they are all water and dust resistance reaching a depth of 1.5 meters for a period of 30 minutes.
